SINGAPORE - Media giant Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) announced top-level changes to its key marketing division on Friday.

Ms Elsie Chua, who is head of integrated sales will be promoted to head of marketing from the start of next year. She is taking over from Mr Leslie Fong, who will stay on at the company as senior executive vice president.

Mr Tan Ooi Boon, who leads the classified department, will become deputy head of marketing. He will oversee both the integrated sales department and the classified department.

The move to restructure SPH's marketing division "demonstrates SPH's commitment to a proper and orderly succession within the Company", said chief executive Alan Chan in a statement on Friday.

"It also ensures better focus by the marketing and digital divisions in their areas of specialisation and assures our stakeholders that their needs will be effectively served," Mr Chan added.

SPH said in a statement that "in her new role, Elsie is expected to continue promoting SPH's newspaper and other non-digital businesses, focusing on new ways to serve existing as well as new advertisers, with the aim of retaining SPH's leading position in the media industry".

"The challenge for Ooi Boon is to develop new revenue streams and foster effective cross-platform selling across print display and classified, out-of-home and digital advertising," the company added.

SPH also said that Mr Fong "will work only half-time. He will continue to oversee acquisitions and joint ventures in new media as well as the marketing division, and the digital division". The digital division is headed by Mr Julian Tan.
