Forty-nine local companies from the retail, beauty, manufacturing, healthcare and food and beverage sectors were recognised on Wednesday for their branding efforts.

They were conferred the Singapore Prestige Brand Award 2014, which has seen such illustrious winners as Rigel, Breadtalk and Ya Kun Kaya in the past.

This year's winners were short listed from more than 100 submissions across five award categories.

Some first-time winners are Chang Cheng Group, Chen Kang Wellness and Han's.
