SINGAPORE - Engineering and construction company AusGroup said on Friday its subsidiary AGC Industries has clinched a seven-month contract worth A$20 million (S$23.5 million) to provide major plant shutdown works in Australia.

It will offer personnel and equipment, mechanical inspections, piping modifications and piping tie-ins to shut down the Yara Pilbara Ammonia Plant, located at the Burrup Peninsula in Western Australia.

The plant, a joint venture between Yara international and Apache Corporation, is one of the world's largest ammonia production facilities on the Burrup Peninsula.

"The award of the Yara Pilbara shutdown works demonstrates AusGroup's commitment to building our portfolio of asset maintenance contracts," said Mr Stuart Kenny, chief executive and managing director of AusGroup, which is listed in Singapore.

"We have a long history of excellence in the provision of maintenance, coatings and refractory services and we look forward to a successful shutdown that enables the continued safe, efficient and reliable operation of the Yara Pilbara Ammonia Plant."
