UBS Youth Finance Academy grooms Singapore bankers of the future

Singapore - Swiss bank UBS celebrated 50 graduates from the first UBS Youth Finance Academy programme on June 10, which introduces pre-tertiary students to the world of finance and business.

The inaugural graduation ceremony for graduates from 18 pre-tertiary institutions was officiated by Mr Edmund Koh, UBS Singapore's country head and Ms Ong Puay See, chief executive of the Institute of Banking and Finance, and held at UBS Singapore's office at One Raffles Quay.

The announcement of the UBS Youth Finance Academy was made last September. The academy aims to provide education and development opportunities to youths in Singapore while increasing the awareness and deepening the understanding of banking and finance careers.

Participants saw how the financial industry works through sessions by UBS's subject matter experts.

UBS said in a statement: "By exposing interested students to potential banking and finance careers at the pre-tertiary level, UBS aims to strengthen the talent pipeline in Singapore and support continued growth of this sector."

The private bank added that about 50 students will be selected to participate each year, and they will be exposed to industry insights and networking opportunities through the programme.
