SINGAPORE - The Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS) and Securities Association of Singapore (SAS) launched an online portal on unlisted specified investment products (SIPs) on Monday.

SIPs are investment products which contain derivatives or have features and risks that are relatively more complex.

Investors can access it at sips.abs.org.sg, at no charge and at their own time and pace.

It highlights key features and risks of the unlisted SIPs such as contracts for difference.

There is an assessment at the end of each module, but note that investors can still invest in unlisted SIPs without undergoing this assessment, if they have with suitable advice.

Investors already have to undergo the customer knowledge assessment to assess if they understand the features and risks of unlisted SIPs.

Even if an investor passes the assessment, financial intermediaries should advise the investor on product suitability before he makes an investment decision.
