BANGKOK (The Nation/Asia News Network) - The Thailand military's National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) on Friday lifted the curfew in Phetchburi's Cha-am district, Prachuab Khiri Khan's Hua Hin district, and Krabi and Phang Nga provinces, effective immediately.

Earlier, the NCPO lifted the curfew in some tourist areas, including Phuket and Samui of Surat Thani province.

The NCPO on Friday night also summoned former Chart Thai MP Thanong Siripreechapong and 11 others to report to the junta on Saturday. Other summoned figures include Usaman Salaemaeng, Wicharn Saneli and Chamroen Chiwinchalermchote.

Junta chief, General Prayuth Chan-ocha, said on Friday night that the NCPO has instructed government agencies to get prepared for joining the Asean Economic Community (AEC) next year.

He said the NCPO was now acting like a government to provide clear policies for the AEC integration preparations. He added that all preparation would have to be done before the deadline of the AEC integration.
