JOHOR BARU (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - Some 100 summonses have been issue by the Malaysian police to the group of factory bus drivers who staged a blockade at the entrance of the Sultan Iskandar Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complex on Aug 1.
Johor Baru South Deputy OCPD Supt Mohd Nadzir Gulam Kadir said that on top of issuing the summonses, police were also investigating the incident under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.
"In total, about 200 over bus drivers were stuck on the road but we have identified about 100 drivers who intentionally left their vehicles on the lorry lane leading to the CIQ to block the road," he said during a press conference here on Monday.
He added that the group had blocked the road as they were unhappy with the new toll rates implemented at the CIQ starting from Aug 1.
