KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysian police are investigating the financial position of the helicopter pilot killed in the April 4 crash in Semenyih, it was reported.

"We will look at several aspects, especially his activities, hobbies or whether he had any problems including financial problems. This matter may have affected his performance and focus on flying," Bernama news agency quoted Deputy Inspector-General of Police Noor Rashid Ibrahim as saying on Friday.

Pilot Cliff Fournier and five others including Umno lawmaker Jamaluddin Jarjis and Private Secretary General in Prime Minister's Office Azlim Alias were killed when their AS365N2 Dauphin helicopter crashed in a rubber plantation in Kampung Sungai Pening, Semenyih at 4.55pm on April 4.

The deputy police inspector-general told reporters the investigation was divided into two parts: One was the police investigation of possible negligence, sabotage and other motives; and the other was the technical investigation on how the helicopter crashed, according to Bernama.

"Forensic examinations take time. We have also traced witnesses and gathered some information, including from the victims' families," Noor Rashid was quoted as saying.

He added that all bodies recovered from the crash site have since been claimed.

"We need a technical report from the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) to be reanalysed."

He said the police would be recalling witnesses and questioning them when the technical report was received.
