THE floods that have ravaged Malaysia in recent days have now affected an eighth state, reported the local media.

Negeri Sembilan has been hit by floodwaters, with 331 people from 124 families displaced on Saturday morning, according to Bernama.

This brings the total number of people evacuated due to floods in Malaysia to 132,684, reported Bernama.

Negeri Sembilan State Welfare Department director Abdullah Hanapi told Bernama that the 331 people "were evacuated after flash floods struck their homes yesterday", and are now at a relief centre.

State Fire and Rescue director Norazam Khamis told Bernama that he has told his staff to ready for action should any weather-related incidents arise.
