Indonesia's graft watchdog targets energy sector

JAKARTA (Reuters) - Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is planning a sector-wide audit of the country's oil and gas industry, the latest step in a push to clean up the energy sector and restore investor confidence in Southeast Asia's biggest crude producer.

"In 2015 we plan to undertake a comprehensive study of the management of the entire oil and gas sector," Johan Budi, KPK deputy chairman for crime prevention, told Reuters.

Budi said this would include KPK's first investigation of state energy company, Pertamina, which the government was already planning to audit amid widespread allegations of fraud at its trading arm, Petral.
