KUALA LUMPUR (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - A Myanmar national was found dead with his throat slit at the carpark of the Ampang Lookout Point in Kuala Lumpur.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Khairuldin Saad said the body of the man was found at the carpark at about 10.30am on Saturday by a passerby who was there to collect scrap metal.

ACP Khairuldin said the victim was believed to have been murdered at the scene within the last 24 hours.

"Based on his documents, the victim is a Myanmar national in his early 30s," he said when contacted.

"The victim, who was wearing a blue checkered shirt with jeans and slippers, was covered in blood with his throat slashed," he added.

The body was sent to the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital for a post-mortem.

It is not known whether the murder is linked to the recent murder cases involving Myanmar nationals in Penang.

It was reported on Dec 18 that two Myanmar nationals wanted by the Penang police in connection with a series of grisly murder cases had fled the state.

Early this month, police raided a house in Kampung Pisang in Machang Bubok, Penang, where several murders took place and arrested 17 people aged between 20 and 40.

With the arrests, police believe they have solved eight of the 18 murder cases involving Myanmar nationals in the state.

In another case, the body of a man was found at a palm oil plantation beside Jalan Gajah Mati in Machang Bubuk, Bukit Mertajam.

Central Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Rusli Noor said no injuries were found on the body, believed to be that of a foreigner.

"We cannot determine the nationality and age of the victim, who was found covered with a cloth," he said.
