PETALING JAYA (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - AirAsia CEO Tony Fernandes is heading to Surabaya to lend support for the search and rescue operation for missing Indonesia AirAsia flight QZ8501.

In his Twitter post, Fernandes confirmed he was going to Surabaya.

"On my way to Surabaya where most of the passengers are from as with my Indonesian management.

"Providing information as we get it," he tweeted.

He added that his only thought was with the passengers and the crew.

"We put our hope in the SAR (search and rescue) operation and thank the Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysian governments," he said.
