Fire breaks out at sweater factory in Bangladesh, some injuries reported

DHAKA (The Daily Star/Asia News Network) - A fire broke out at a sweater factory in Ashulia on the outskirts of Bangladesh's capital Dhaka on Friday evening.

The cause of the fire, which originated around 6.30pm local time from a corner of ZA Sweater Factory, could not be known instantly.

Five firefighting units brought the flames under control around 7.30m.

Four locals received minor injuries when they tried to douse the fire.

The cause of the fire at the Fuji Garment factory could not be known immediately, Xinhua quoted a firefighter Abdul Hamid as saying.

"At least 30 workers were injured in a stampede of hundreds of workers fleeing the fire," Xinhua reported a official as saying, quoting some of the victims.
