Afghanistan's election turnout estimated at over 50 percent: Officials

KABUL (AFP) - Afghan officials said on Saturday more than seven million people voted in the presidential election run-off, a turnout of 52 per cent based on an estimated electorate of 13.5 million voters.

"The estimated turnout was more than seven million in the second round, 38 per cent women and 62 per cent men," election commission chief Ahmad Yousuf Nuristani told reporters.
