Imagine walking into a bank and running into the thief who had just stolen your money that same morning.
That was what happened to burglary victim Feng Wan from China's Jiangxi province, who allegedly had 3,900 yuan (S$800) in cash and two bank cards stolen from him.
According to a report by The Daily Mail with camera footage dated Oct 9, the Chinese man had arrived at a bank to report the loss of his items, when the clerk realised that he had the exact same name as another man who was at the same counter trying to withdraw 10,000 yuan (S$2,000) from his account.
Bank clerk Ye Lu said: "I asked him (Feng) to fill in the appropriate paperwork at another desk. During the waiting time another man walked in and he wanted to withdraw money with two deposit books."
"Once I looked at the first deposit book I felt a bit weird as the printed name is exactly the same as the one who just reported loss."
She added that the second man, Wen Sun, keyed in the wrong password for two consecutive times.
When he failed to produce identification, it became apparent that he was attempting to impersonate Feng Wan, who was standing next to him, reported The Independent.
Wen was then caught and wrestled to the floor in the bank before being arrested.
