THE partner of Sydney siege gunman Man Haron Monis, now on bail on charges of murdering Monis' former wife, is now in the spotlight after her bail was set to be reviewed, reported Australia's local media.

Amirah Droudis, who attended a hearing over the bail review at a court in Sydney on Monday morning, was earlier charged with the killing of Ms Noleen Hayson Pal, the ex-wife of Monis, said Australia's ABC News.

In the aftermath of last week's cafe siege, where Monis took 17 people hostage at a Sydney cafe one week ago on Dec 15 before being killed by the police, Attorney-General of New South Wales Brad Hazzard had asked prosecutors to review Droudis' case, according to ABC News.

Monis was also out on bail at the time he staged the siege. He was charged with being an accomplice in Ms Hayson Pal's killing.

The prosecutor had called for Droudis' bail to be reviewed in light of the siege, and also videos posted online, which are being examined by officials, reported ABC News.

The court heard that the videos are proof that Droudis would act on instructions from Monis, it added.

Ms Hayson Pal was stabbed and burnt alive last year at a flat in Sydney.

At Downing Centre Local Court in Sydney on Mondays morning, reporters surrounded Droudis as she arrived for the hearing, but she stayed silent. Her stepbrother asked for privacy, ABC News reported.

Her lawyer argued that the move to review her bail should be rejected as it was frivolous, according to ABC News.

The magistrate viewed a 90-minute video recorded by Droudis on Monday, Xinhua news agency reported.

Meanwhile, Monis' body has been released by the coroner after a post-mortem, Xinhia reported.

But Muslim funeral directors have declared that the body did not deserve any care, according to Xinhua, so Monis could have a "destitute funeral" - one conducted by the state when the dead person has no assets and relatives are unable to pay for it.
