Zeus, the blind owl with the starry eyes

Straits Times Animal AnticsHere's an owl you may want to sing "Twinkle twinkle little stars" to.

The beautiful blind Westerm Screech owl is named Zeus, after the Greek god of sky and thunder, for the appearance of its shiny eyes. Two years after being found on a California resident's porch, it is still an attraction at the Wildlife Learning Center in the United States.

The Center wrote on its Facebook that the owl was found in April 2012 on someone's front porch.

A caption accompanying the photo of Zeus reads: "They brought him to a veterinarian. It was determined he was blind and unable to be released back into the wild so he now has a permanent home there(the Center)."
