* SMRT chief executive Desmond Kuek apologised today for the massive disruption on the North-South and East-West lines on Tuesday evening and reiterated the company's commitment to improve train reliability.

* SMRT and the Land Transport Authority have identified three possible causes for the power trips: damaged insulation on two power cables along the North-South line, a faulty voltage relay at the Kranji power substation, and water leakage along a section of the Tanjong Pagar tunnel. 

* From Oct 1, firms will have to disclose the salary ranges of their professional, managerial and executive (PME) jobs when advertising in the government-run national jobs bank.
