Yacht race makes waves

The azure waters off Palma de Mallorca in the Balearic Islands, Spain, will be awash with yachts taking part this week in one of the most prestigious regattas in the region.

On Monday, the yachts got their first taste of action during the first journey of the King's Cup sailing competition.

The event is one of the most important sailing regattas in the Mediterranean region and is also one of Spain's major yachting events.

Every year, celebrities from around the world converge on the resort city of Palma for the regatta, where they are joined by Spanish royalty and the world's best sailors.

In addition to the sailing competition, there are also onshore festivities to keep visitors occupied.

This year, more than 120 sailing boats and 1,500 participants are expected to take part in the race.
