It is a beauty pageant with a difference - this one held in Germany's north-western town of Verden an der Aller is for dairy cows.
As part of the 44th edition of the "Schau der Besten" (Show of the Best) pageant on Thursday, a judge inspects the udders of some of the 200 cows taking part in 18 different categories.
This year's grand champion was a cow known as FG Madame, presented by farmer Henrik Wille.
Judge Roger Frossard from Switzerland praised FG Madame for "a beautiful udder, good teat position, a clear foundation (legs) and a wide chest and width throughout".
