Singing their way to a record

Making sure that God could hear the voice of man was the Church of God International choir in the Philippines, whose 8,688 members lifted their hearts, hands and voices in harmony on Monday night.

Performing Medley 11 and Iglesia ng Dios, the Ang Dating Daan Chorale sang its way to a Guinness World Record - for the largest gospel choir in the world - at the Araneta coliseum in Quezon City, eastern Manila.

In the process, it shattered the previous record set by its fellow Filipino group Iglesia Ni Cristo in July last year at the Philippine Arena in Ciudad de Victoria, Bulacan, with 4,745 participants.

The Ang Dating Daan Chorale joined the category of People in the Guinness World Records, which includes the most people whistling, the most people chanting and the largest didgeridoo ensemble.
