One lightning strike after another

Singapore has one of the highest rates of lightning strikes in the world, and a landscape and architecture photographer has captured all that power in a single image.

When a thunderstorm started moving in from Johor on Sunday night, Mr Darren Soh rushed to Sembawang for a clear view for kilometres. Staying for just under an hour on the 16th floor of an HDB block, the Singapore-based photographer took 12 photographs, which he stacked together with software.

The composite image garnered almost 13,000 shares, more than 40,000 likes and more than 1,300 comments on Facebook as of 7pm yesterday. Mr Soh, 40, said it is a challenge to take such photographs in this part of the world because storms do not follow a predictable pattern.
