Magical kingdom awaits

Shanghai Disneyland is taking shape, as seen in this aerial photograph taken of the site on Sunday, and it is not such a small world after all.

At 390ha, the first Disney park in mainland China, located in the Pudong area, is said to be three times the size of its sister park in Hong Kong.

Tickets to the park, for its opening day on June 16, went on sale yesterday at midnight and were reportedly sold out within hours.

The average ticket costs 370 yuan (S$78) and visitors will get to experience a number of features not seen in other Disneylands, such as the tallest and most complex Disney castle ever built, towering 60m high, and a pirate-themed land.
