A cowboy, a mermaid and an inflatable floating toilet bowl. These are just some of the costumes participants of the annual World Bog Snorkelling Championships wore on Sunday (Aug 28). The yearly competition takes place at Waen Rhydd peat bog, near Llanwrtyd Wells in Wales. The competition started in 1985 and is in its 31st year now. Competitors have to get through two lengths of the 55m-long peat bog trench as quickly as they can, while wearing snorkels and flippers. They are also not allowed to use any conventional swimming stroke.
