In Pictures: The Mud People festival

Bibiclat villagers from Nueva Ecija province in northern Philippines covered themselves in mud and dried banana leaves to mark the 'Taong Putik' or Mud People Festival and the feast of Saint John the Baptist on 24 June 2016. This festival began in the 1940s during the Second World War.
During this festival, mud-covered devotees light candles and make wishes, often praying for a good harvesting season.
