In Pictures: Growing up in Singapore

The early years were challenging for Singapore. There were political and social uncertainties and a lack of infrastructure. For many families, living conditions were poor, life was difficult and children were expected to do their part in sustaining the family.
Despite these hardships, children had their share of fun growing up. They invented their own games and found friendship in common spaces. The harsh circumstances did not dampen their optimism and enthusiasm to live life to the fullest.
