Here comes Santa course

In Brazil, training to become Santa Claus is no laughing matter.

In Rio de Janeiro, a school founded in 1993 prepares prospective Santas for their duties before they are dispatched to bring joy and the season's tidings to children when Christmas comes around.

The students at the Escola de Papai Noel do Brasil (Brazil's School of Santa Claus), seen here attending classes earlier this week, are given lessons in a variety of areas, including singing, physical activity, how to dress and how to care for their beards.

With Brazil's economy wallowing in recession, it appears that the opportunity to earn some money as Santa is one jolly good way to brighten up the holiday season.
