Dressed up for Xmas

Ion Orchard and The Centrepoint shared honours for Orchard Road's best-dressed mall this Christmas, said the Orchard Road Business Association (Orba) yesterday.

Ion Orchard (left) was the judges' pick, while voters chose The Centrepoint.

The malls were judged based on the daytime and night-time effects of their festive decorations, as well as the creative use of interactive features to provide shoppers with a truly engaging experience.

Ion Orchard dazzled the judges with a 20m-high Tiffany tree covered with thousands of crystals, orbs and pearls. The theme is "a season of resplendence".

Visitors can enter the Tiffany Box at the base of the Christmas tree and snap shots at the interactive photo booth. This is the second year that Ion Orchard has won the judges' choice award.

At The Centrepoint, the whimsical festive kitchen manned by life-sized gingerbread men as part of its clockwork kitchen theme was a hit with shoppers.

Ten malls took part in the annual contest this year. The other eight malls received merit awards. They are Forum The Shopping Mall, Orchard Central, orchardgateway, Paragon, Plaza Singapura, Tanglin Mall, TANGS at Tang Plaza and Wheelock Place.
