Blooming good time in spring

Spring is definitely in full bloom in Bonn, Germany.

Heerstrasse, in the city's Old Town, turned into a magical pink tunnel on Sunday, with the annual flowering of the cherry trees lining the avenue.

Also known as Cherry Blossom Avenue, the street became famous after photographers started posting pictures of the blossoms on the Internet.

Today, tourists from all over the world flock to Bonn to see this spectacular display, which usually starts in April and lasts for about two to three weeks.

The street has even been named one of the 10 most beautiful avenues in the world, according to a report by German broadcaster Deutsche Welle.

To add to the celebratory mood surrounding the event, residents and shop owners in the area organise the Kirschblutenfest, or cherry blossom festival, featuring concerts, art events, fashion shows and guided walks.
