In Pictures: International Women's Day around the world

Women worldwide made themselves heard in celebrations, parades, rallies and events on and leading up to March 8 to commemorate women's rights. Women's Day was first observed in 1908 when 15,000 women marched through New York City, demanding shorter working hours, better pay and voting rights. This year's theme is #BeBoldForChange, which encourages women to be leaders within their own spheres of influence by taking bold action to accelerate gender equality.
