Police officer in case of expats who jumped bail charged
An investigation officer handling the case of three expats charged with assault in 2010 has himself been charged with neglect of duty.
Second Minister for Home Affairs S. Iswaran said this in Parliament in response to a request from Ms Tin Pei Ling (Marine Parade GRC) for an update on the inquiry into the case, where two of the three expats jumped bail after being charged in court with assault in July 2011 over a brawl at Suntec City in 2010.
Deputy Prime Minister and Home Affairs Minister Teo Chee Hean had told Parliament in March that an internal inquiry was under way to look into the case.
Mr Iswaran did not disclose further details as the case is currently before the Police disciplinary board.
