MPs raise healthcare and eldercare issues, with focus on elderly

Several Members of Parliament (MPs) raised the issue of healthcare in Parliament on Monday, asking for more to be done, particularly for the elderly. They were speaking during the debate on the Budget.
MP for Bishan-Toa Payoh Group Representation Constituency (GRC) Hri Kumar said the Government must be able to project the number of eldercare facilities it intends to build, and identify where these facilities generally need to be located.
'This should be shared with Singaporeans, so that the matter is not dealt with ad hoc, and the issue is in everybody's backyard,' he said.
His comments come after residents in Toh Yi and Woodlands recently expressed unhappiness over plans to set up eldercare centres in their neighbourhoods.
