34 on death row can review cases under law changes

ALL 34 people now on death row here will get a chance to have their cases reviewed under proposed changes to laws mandating the death penalty for murder and drug trafficking.
These changes were set out in the Misuse of Drugs (Amendment) Bill, Penal Code (Amendment) Bill and Criminal Procedure Code (Amendment) Bill, read in Parliament for the first time on Monday (Oct 15).
They include lifting the mandatory death penalty for drug trafficking and murder in certain specific instances.
The Bills will also provide for those already sentenced to hang to apply for re-sentencing.
