American painter Georgia O'Keeffe breaks the record for female artists when her work commanded US$44.4 million (S$57.7 million) at a Sotheby's auction on Thursday. It is more than triple the previous auction record for a work by a female artist. O'Keeffe previous personal best was US$6.2 million, set by Christie's in 2001.
