More than 100 well-heeled women jostled for a chance to snap a picture of themselves with British celebrity designer Victoria Beckham, better known as Posh Spice, at a private event this evening May 12.

The event, held at the On Pedder designer shoe and accessory store in Scotts Square, was attended by about 100 people but attracted dozens of curious passers-by who spotted Beckham in the mall and started taking pictures of her with their mobile phones.

The 40-year-old designer, who came to fame as a member of the 1990s pop group Spice Girls and is married to football star David Beckham, spent more than 30 minutes mingling with the guests, who were made up of On Pedder's top customers.

Around 20 of them snapped up her bags - which start at $920 for a zipper clutch bag and go up to $3,900 for a fold-over tote - and asked her to sign the inside flaps of the bags. They also took pictures with her.

Beckham, who wore a white shift from her fall 2014 ready-to-wear collection as well as white stilettos, smiled constantly and complimented several customers on their outfits.

She also introduced her spring summer and pre-fall 2014 bags and sunglasses. The collection included four limited edition leather designs in blush pink that are exclusive to the On Pedder store here.

Beckham launched her eponymous luxury label in September 2008 at New York Fashion Week to mostly positive reviews by fashion journalists.

This is the first time the mother-of-four has made her way to Southeast Asia for a promotional market visit. She flies to Jakarta on May 13 to attend a similar event at the On Pedder store there.
