From the train station at Zurich Airport, take a Swiss Railways train heading to Gossau. At Gossau, switch to an Appenzell Railways train in the direction of Wasserauen and alight at the town of Appenzell. The entire train journey is a picturesque 11/2-hour ride through stunning rolling hills and pretty little towns, costing around 37 Swiss francs (S$53).
