English National Ballet to perform Le Corsaire here next May

The English National Ballet will be performing a full-length ballet in Singapore for the first time in May next year.

Le Corsaire, which was originally choreographed by Joseph Mazilier in 1856, will be presented under the Esplanade's annual da:ns series.

It follows the adventure of a pirate, Conrad, who goes on a perilous adventure to save his beautiful harem girl, Medora.

The ballet will be staged by Canada-born ballet luminary Anna-Marie Holmes, and the set and costumes will be designed by Hollywood film designer Bob Ringwood, who has worked on the Batman movies, Alien 3 and Star Trek: Nemesis.

Tickets go on sale October 31.
