Beijing - Nicky Wu and Liu Shishi, whose onscreen romance on television hit Scarlet Heart grew into a relationship off screen, are married.

Wu, 44, posted a photo of two red marriage certificates and two wedding rings on Weibo today, said NetEase website, with a message: "Cherish happiness."

He tagged Liu, 27, who reposted his announcement on Weibo and added: "We are very happy."

One of Wu's employees said they only knew about the marriage today, and did not know the full details, reported NetEase.

Former Little Tiger Wu got a second wind in his career in 2011 when he starred in Scarlet Heart, a time travel romance adapted from an online novel, as the Qing prince who would be the Yongzheng emperor. Liu starred as the love of his life, a woman from the future.

In a development that fans dreamt about, Wu and Liu confirmed in 2013 that they were dating.

It is the first marriage for Liu and the second for Wu, who divorced actress Ma Yashu in 2009.
