Nurul Aini and Imam Shah are the most popular Malay TV personalities with viewers here

Malay television viewers here have voted actress-host Nurul Aini and actor Imam Shah as their favourite female and male personalities at biannual awards show Pesta Perdana on Saturday night.

Drama series Mengejar Mentari (Chasing The Sun) was voted as the most popular Malay television show.

The glitzy awards show, organised by television station MediaCorp Suria, celebrates the talents in the local Malay television industry.

The rest of the winners at the 155-minute ceremony were picked by the station.

The big winner of the night was drama series Bingit, which won seven awards, including Best Drama Series, Best Drama Special/Anthology Supporting Actress for one of its cast, Mastura Ahmad, and Best Directing (Drama) for one of its directors, Sanif Olek.

Actor Zaidi Ibrahim picked up two accolades, Best Actor In A Leading Role (Drama Special / Anthology) for his work in drama Raya Bersama (Celebrate Together) and Best Supporting Actor (Drama Special/Anthology) for his role in Pesan Ayah (Father's Message).

Another double winner was rising actress Farhana M. Noor, who picked up both Best Supporting Actress In A Drama Series and the Most Promising Actor/Actress awards, both for her role in drama series Belah Hati (Split Heart).

A special Lifetime TV Achievement Award was given to veteran actress Pon Bachik, 70, whose career in radio and television started in the early 1960s, with the Anugerah Perdana Emas.
