Singapore viewers will be able to catch all 13 episodes of the latest season of acclaimed Netflix series House Of Cards, on the same day as their United States release on a local cable TV channel next month.

Starting on Feb 28 at 4pm, all 13 episodes of House Of Cards Season 3 will be aired back-to-back on RTL CBS Entertainment HD (StarHub TV Channel 509) for a weekend marathon.

Although it is increasingly common for American TV series to be broadcast here within one day of their US premieres, it is believed that this is the first time the entire new season of a show is being made available all at once so soon after being aired overseas.

Mr Jonas Engwall, chief executive of RTL CBS Asia Entertainment Network, says that this is a good step towards curbing piracy: "We believe this will curb alternative and illegal sources for the series that historically have been used."

House Of Cards stars Kevin Spacey as the manipulative and scheming US President Frank Underwood and Robin Wright as his equally ambitious wife, both who stop at nothing to retain political power. Spacey won a Golden Globe earlier this month for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Drama.
