Singapore actor Christopher Lee will get a second shot at winning an award at the prestigious Taiwan Golden Bell Awards, Taiwan's equivalent of the Emmy Awards.

He is up for Best Actor in a TV series for his performance in Taiwanese drama A Good Wife (2013), in which he played a successful architect with marital woes.

Lee, 42, was clearly in high spirits at a press conference yesterday for a new Channel 8 drama, Against The Tide.

"I was at home with my wife and son when I got the news of my Golden Bell nomonation on Thursday afternoon. We were over the moon. I believe it's my baby who brought me luck. People used to tell me that a baby will bring good luck and now it has come true," he tells Life! after the event, during which he dropped references to his baby boy Zed, who was born on National Day.

His nomination for The Good Wife is his second at Golden Bell. In 2012, he was nominated for Best Leading Actor in a mini-series at the 47th Golden Bell Awards for Forgotten, in which he played the husband of an amnesiac.

The Golden Bell will be held on Oct 25. The actors Lee is up against include Blue Lan (Chocolat) and Junior (Sun After The Rain).

Since signing with Taiwanese modelling and artiste agency Catwalk in 2012, he has bagged leading-man roles in Taiwanese productions such as A Good Wife (2013) and Notice From A Bachelorette, which is set to air in Taiwan in October.

Lee, who became a father for the first time after welcoming a baby boy with his wife Fann Wong last month, has been in Singapore since early this year to be around for his new family.

Against The Tide premieres on Channel 8 on Wednesday (Sept 24) at 9pm.
