US conductor Lorin Maazel dies at 84: Festival

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Conductor Lorin Maazel has died at the age of 84, organizers of a festival he founded said on Sunday.

Maazel - whose career included stints at the New York Philharmonic and the Vienna State Opera - died in the US state of Virginia from complications of pneumonia, according to the Castleton Festival.
