Singapore's JJ Lin crowned Best Mandarin Male Singer at Golden Melody Awards

TAIPEI (THE CHINA POST/ASIA NEWS NETWORK)- Singapore singer-songwriter JJ Lin took the coveted Best Mandarin Male Singer Award at the 25th Golden Melody Awards, held in Taipei last night.

He won for for his album Stories Untold, beating Taiwan's Chang Chen-yue, singer Wakin Chau, rapper Soft Lipa and Chinese singer-songwriter Li Ronghao. Lin had been nominated three times previously for the award.

Malaysian singer-producer Penny Tai took home the Best Mandarin Female Singer Award for her performance on the album Unexpected. She competed against Taiwan's Faith Yang and Jia Jia, Singapore's Tanya Chua and Hong Kong's Denise Ho. Tai also won the Best Album Producer Award.

Li took home the Best Newcomer prize for his album Model.

First time nominee Mixer beat six other bands to win the Best Band title for their performance on the album Circus Movement.
