Korean actor So Ji Sub charmed fans as a haughty mogul in last year's hit paranormal-themed rom-com drama Master's Sun.
At a public event in Singapore on Thursday night, he showed his cheeky side when asked for his ideal girl. "I'd like an obedient girl in the day and a sexy girl at night," quipped So with a glint in his eye, speaking through a translator.
Turning serious, he added: "To me, a woman's looks don't matter. What matters is she must understand my work and be considerate. We must click."
The 36-year-old actor met more than 400 local fans at the event held in City Square Mall. Although it was nominally a press conference, reporters present were not permitted to ask questions. The question and answer session was conducted entirely by the event emcee.
So was in in town for his first fan meet here, So Ji Sub - Let's Have Fun in Singapore, to be held at The Star Theatre on Friday night.
The Singapore fan meet is part of his Asian tour, which includes stops in Bangkok, Kobe and Yokohama.
He had a successful start to the tour with two sold-out fan meets held in Taipei in June this year. All 3,000 tickets for the first night's fan meet in Taipei were snapped up within three hours. To meet the overwhelming demand, a second show with 3,000 tickets were added.
Taiwanese fan Sally Lai, 33, could not get enough of her idol and flew here to catch him a second time at the fan meet in Star Theatre.
"My colleague and I flew in today. We had to buy business class tickets because the economy tickets were sold out. It's a rare chance to see him in person. Who knows if he will be holding a fan meet next year," said Ms Lai, who works in finance.
So may be better known as an actor, but his loyal fans know that their idol is also a hip-hop enthusiast.
Ms Lai's colleague, Ms Grace Chiu, 39, chimed in: "The way he raps is really charming. He rapped during the Taipei fan meet."
At the Taipei fan meet, he had performed songs from his latest hip-hop EP, 18 Years, released two months ago.
The EP's title refers to his years in showbiz since making his acting debut in the sitcom Three Guys And Three Girls (1996).
Dressed in a black blazer and paired with casual jeans, So said: "This album expresses my feelings about my 18 years in showbiz. It's a walk down memory lane. I penned the lyrcis myself. I hope you can feel what I went through."
