Hong Kong singer-songwriter Khalil Fong brings his Soulboy Lights Up World Tour to The Star Theatre on Oct 11. Tickets from $48 to $168 are available from Sistic.

This will be the first South-east Asian stop of a tour that has taken him to stages in Hong Kong and mainland China. He last performed in Singapore three years ago at a showcase for his album 15 (2011).

Fong has always created a melting pot of sounds by dipping into genres as diverse as soul, R&B, jazz, pop, rock and funk on fine records such as Back To Wonderland (2012) and 15. His hits include Love Love Love, Singalongsong and A Thousand Paper Cranes.

On Dangerous World (2014), his first album with new label Gold Typhoon Music, he is again fired up with the possibilities of musical cross-pollination on numbers such as the title dance track and the hip-hop-influenced Peace.

The title of his tour suggests that he will be covering songs from across the breadth of his music career. Soul Boy is the name of his 1995 debut album, while Lights Up is the final track of his latest record.
