SATURDAY ORIGINAL SESSIONS 3RD ANNIVERSARY BASH
It has been three years of solid, made-in-Singapore sounds every Saturday night at Hood Bar. To mark the anniversary of the series, the nightspot has rounded up five acts from different genres to play throughout the night. On the bill are Dim Sum Dolly Pam Oei's rock band Ugly In The Morning, upcoming indie rockers Ellipsis, pop-rock duo Jack and Rai, indie rockers King Kong Jane and prog-rock guitarist Simon Yong.

IGNITE! MUSIC FESTIVAL 2014
Now in its seventh year, this annual festival held by Republic Polytechnic has become a top draw among fans of home-grown indie and rock music, attracting a 14,000-strong crowd last year. The line-up features a mix of established and upcoming names, including singersongwriter Charlie Lim, post-rock outfit Anechois, post-hardcore band Caracal, veterans Plainsunset, indie rockers wyd:syd, pop-rock band 53A, rapper ShiGGa Shay and pop-folk quartet The Sam Willows.

AVALANCHE - THE GLASS SILVER LINING RELEASE SHOW
Local post-hardcore group Avalanche will release their debut album with a headlining gig on Saturday. Lead single Plaster Saint has already topped the local iTunes rock charts in June and the rest of the album features more of the highly charged rhythms and beats, as well as screamo vocals that the quartet are known for. The event also features other bands The Planksmith, A Town In Fear, Two Seas, The Caulfield Cult and 7nightsatsea.

LOCALMOTION: LABELS GALORE
Three home-grown record labels take turns to curate the three nights at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre this weekend - acts include KittyWu Records tonight, Phyla Digital's electronic acts on Saturday and bands under Anaki Records on Sunday. A highlight will be a special comeback performance by one of the premier names of the local post-rock scene, Amateur Takes Control. The two entirely different sets that they play tonight mark the first time the band are playing live after a year-long hiatus.

OSCILLA - ALBUM LAUNCH AT THE SUBSTATION
Two years after their last release, Catacombs, home-grown avant-garde rock proponents The Observatory are back with a new album titled Oscilla. This is the first release with the current line-up that features new members Cheryl Ong on drums and Yuen Chee Wai on electronics and synths, in addition to Dharma on guitars, Leslie Low on guitars and vocals and Vivian Wang on synth bass and keyboards.
