Two local acts whose releases have topped the iTunes charts here, folk-pop singer-songwriter Joel Tan, also known as Gentle Bones, and pop-rock act The Summer State, co-headline this weekend's instalment of Original Sundays, a live music series that showcases up-and-coming home-grown music talent.

JAZZ IN JULY

The Esplanade's month-long daily dose of live jazz shows continues this weekend. Highlights this weekend include budding home-grown jazz talents Beth Yap on vocals, Jase Sng on bass and Jelene Luar and Simon Ng on piano, and more from the arts centre's Bright Young Things programme at the Concourse tonight as well as swing/big band Tanglin Rose Band playing a special Hari Raya set at the Outdoor Theatre this Sunday which they describe as "kebaya jazz".

DJ, singer and producer Miss Kittin (real name Caroline Herve) has proved to be one of the stalwarts of the French dance music scene, with a charismatic performing style that has seen her progress from rave classics, acid and techno in her early days to electro and more leftfield electronic sounds in recent years.

Fresh from their stint as one of the Budding Bands alumnus at the recent music festival Baybeats, indie-pop quartet Lost Weekend return to the gig circuit as part of a double-bill show with a new name on the scene, The MadHatter Project, a five-piece band that plays quirky, piano and keyboard driven tunes.
