TAIPEI - Taipei - Former Comic Boyz member Shone An died early this morning following complications from liver cancer, said his management company.

His death at age 31 followed that of another Comic Boyz member Arroy Shen in 2012. Shen had died aged 29 following brain surgery.

An died at his home with family and friends by his side, Taiwan's Central News Agency reported, quoting a brief statement from the singer-actor's management company Frigga Entertainment.

Part of the six-man Taiwanese boyband Comic Boyz which broke up in 2005, An briefly left the industry in 2007 but later returned to act in movies and TV series including Mars (2004) and The Emperor's Harem (2011).

An, whose whose real name was Wang Chun-t'san, died four days after a movie, Dawn Break Up, in which he starred with Daniel Chan, opened in China.

On May 10, he had urged fans on Weibo to watch it.

He last appeared on television on the Mr Con Ms Csi show last month, in which he asked: "After I close my eyes, will anyone on Earth remember me?" He also spoke about suffering from insomnia at one time and having to rely on sleeping pills.

His good friends Barbie Hsu and her husband Wang Xiaofei were among the first to mourn their loss on Weibo, reported NetEase.

The couple had met at a party thrown by An's close friend, actress Ady An, in 2010 and it was Shone who took Hsu to the bash.

Wang wrote yesterday: "Thank you for bringing Barbie to me. Brother, we will always remember you."

Hours earlier on Sunday, Ady had also gone on Weibo, asking people to pray for Shone.

His memorial will be held next Monday.
