Future Music Festival Asia's appeal for a public entertainment licence has been turned down by the Home Affairs Ministry.

In a statement sent out to the media on Friday night, a ministry spokesperson said: "The Minister for Home Affairs has carefully considered and turned down the appeal by Livescape Singapore Pte Ltd to hold the Future Music Festival Asia (FMFA) 2015 in Singapore."

The appeal was received on Tuesday.

Livescape was twice denied a public entertainment licence to hold the event here, but continued to sell tickets and promote it before securing official permission.

Confirming that it received the rejection, Livescape said in a statement early on Saturday morning that it was "extremely disappointed" that the appeal had been unsuccessful.

It said: "Despite having put in place a robust event, security, safety and medical management plan which has been developed alongside both local and international experts with a combined 50 years of experience in running similar large-scale events, our Public Entertainment License has not been granted."

Livescape added that it is assessing its options and planning its next course of action. Details will be made available over the next few days.

About 15,000 tickets has been sold for the event, which was meant to be held in Singapore for the first time on March 13 and 14 at Changi Exhibition Centre.

FMFA, which is considered one of the biggest dance music festivals in South-east Asia, made headlines last year when six of its concertgoers died from drug overdose in Kuala Lumpur.
