BEIJING - Stars of The Grandmaster, including Zhang Ziyi, Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Chang Chen and Zhang Jin, reunited in Beijing on Monday with director Wong Kar Wai to promote The Grandmaster 3D.

The latest cut of the 2013 award-winning film opens on Thursday in China.

As Wong sees it, the value of an actor depends on whether his films leave a "taste".

That led the director on Monday to compare Leung to tofu - "both meat and vegetable, great inside and outside" - Zhang Ziyi to onions ("sharp and crisp, a Northerner speciality, but sweet when ripe") and Chang to his "little fresh meat", website NetEase reported.
